The High Court in Suva has granted an application by four individuals named in the controversial Ashton-Lewis Commission of Inquiry report to have the audio recording and transcript of the Commission of Inquiry provided by the State.

The applicants are former Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption commissioner Barbara Malimali, Fiji Law Society President William Wylie Clarke, the Society’s immediate past president Laurel Vaurasi, and former attorney-general Graham Leung.

The applicants are challenging the findings of the COI Report which is critical of their alleged actions. Justice Dane Tuiqereqere granted the application today, directing that the audio recording and transcript be made available by Monday, March 16.

He also granted an application by Justice Ashton-Lewis to be joined as an interested party in the proceedings. The matter has been adjourned to April 10.
