Members of the Methodist Church in Fiji gathered in their respective divisions yesterday to mark a special Father’s Day thanksgiving service, bringing with them produce from their first harvest of the year as an offering to God.
At the Suvavou Methodist Church, choir leader Mosese Tuilau said the event was a long-standing tradition observed annually by Methodist congregations.
“All Methodist Church divisions organise this special Father’s Day event every year where members bring some of their produce from their first harvest of the year and offer it to the Lord,” Mr Tuilau said.
“That’s what the Bible says.
“It’s a thanksgiving event where we thank God and seek His blessings.”
The event coincided with the Holi celebrations, a time when Hindu farmers also celebrate their first harvest with joy and thanksgiving.
