Kaiviti Silktails went down 12-22 to the Penrith Panthers in their opening round match on Saturday in Sydney.

The Fijian side made a bright start, scoring the opening try of the game to take an early lead. Silktails looked sharp in attack, moving the ball quickly and testing the Panthers’ defence in the opening exchanges.

However, the Panthers fought back and crossed the line twice to lead 10-6 at halftime.

The second half saw the intensity rise, with both teams showing strong defence and some hard-hitting tackles. The Panthers added another two tries, successfully converting both, while Silktails managed a late second try with a successful conversion.

Despite their strong effort and quick passing, Silktails were unable to close the gap as the Panthers controlled possession in the final minutes to secure the win.
