As a leading marine tourism operator in Fiji, South Sea Cruises Group (SSCG) staff celebrated International Women’s Day 2026, acknowledging the tremendous work of their female employees.

In a statement, SSCG said 57 per cent of the leadership team are made up of women, with eight exceptional women leaders driving strategic, operational, marine, hospitality, commercial and corporate portfolios across the organisation.

“SSCG recognises that progress in our industry comes not only from innovation and investment in vessels and infrastructure, but from investing in people — particularly women who continue to reshape leadership in traditionally male-dominated sectors such as marine operations and tourism,” a statement from the company said.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the CEO of South Sea Cruises Group Brad Rutherford said marine and maritime industries globally have long been perceived as male dominated.

“At South Sea Cruises Group, we are proud to be redefining that narrative,” Mr Rutherford said.

“Our women leaders are not only participating – they are leading, innovating, and shaping the future of our business.”

SSCG said the theme ‘Give to Gain’ resonates strongly with the organisation.

“When we invest in women through opportunity, mentorship, leadership pathways and equal access, we gain stronger decision-making, deeper resilience, and sustainable performance as an organisation.

“Operating across Fiji’s Mamanuca and Yasawa waters, SSCG understands resilience firsthand.

“The marine tourism sector demands operational excellence, crisis agility, and unwavering commitment to safety and service. The women of SSCG demonstrate these qualities daily – navigating complexity, leading diverse teams, managing high-performance operations, and delivering world-class guest experiences.”
