THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is closely monitoring the evolving security situation in the Middle East, with no confirmed reports of Fijians being directly affected.

In a statement, the ministry said it continued to keep track of developments while maintaining communication with Fijian nationals in the region.

“The ministry can confirm that, at this stage, there are no reports of Fijian nationals being directly affected by the recent incidents,” the statement read.

“The Fiji Embassy in Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi remain in contact with local authorities and are maintaining communication channels with Fijian nationals.”

“In response to the evolving situation, the ministry has activated an emergency Operations Centre at its headquarters in Suva to coordinate joint monitoring efforts and facilitate timely consular response should circumstances require.”

“A contingency plan has been put in place to ensure that appropriate consular support can be provided to Fijian nationals should the security situation deteriorate.”
