The High Court in Lautoka has granted a temporary relaxation of bail conditions for businesswoman Ana Masere, allowing her limited access to social media to promote a business event.
In a ruling delivered on February 26, 2026, Justice Sunil Sharma approved Masere’s application to use her TikTok account for the promotion and marketing of an upcoming event known as the “Hope Carnival.”
Masere had previously been granted conditional bail by the Nadi Magistrates’ Court on October 8, 2025.
One of the bail conditions prohibited her from engaging with social media platform TikTok to post information related to the allegations in her case, whether directly, anonymously, under a false name, or through a third party.
The applicant, who operates Ana Masere Events Pte Ltd, sought the court’s permission to temporarily relax the condition, stating that access to her TikTok account @eventsfiji was crucial for informing the public and promoting the carnival.
Through her lawyer Mohammed Saneem, Masere assured the court that the account would be used strictly for professional marketing and promotion of the “Hope Carnival,” including its sponsors, entertainment lineup and programme.
The court allowed the temporary relaxation from February 26 to May 16, 2026.
Justice Sharma ruled that the TikTok account must only be used for marketing and promoting the carnival and for no other purpose.
The court also ordered that the comments and talkback sections on the account must be switched off, meaning all posts and broadcasts will be view-only.
Any live broadcasts must strictly relate to the carnival, including its entertainment, sponsors, programme, participation and queen contest.
The court further ruled that Masere may allow a representative to operate the TikTok account for promotional purposes, provided the individual is fully briefed on the court’s orders and the consequences of any breach.
Justice Sharma stressed that once the relaxation period ends on May 16, the original bail conditions imposed by the Nadi Magistrates’ Court will automatically resume in full.
The court also made it clear that neither Masere nor any third party acting on her behalf is allowed to engage in online discussions or comment exchanges on the TikTok account during the period of relaxation.
