MORE Fiji Sports Council employees may be sent on leave if other issues are uncovered in the process of the independent forensic investigation carried out by Pherrus Financial Services on the 16 issues listed in the terms of reference.
On Thursday, CEO Gilbert Vakalalabure and operations manager Litia Senibulu were sent on annual leave as the investigation began.
Vice-chairman of the FSC board Peter Mazey said they want the investigation to clear out every issue that has come up.
“There may be more,” he said.
“If we find any other issue then other people might have to go on leave while that is being investigated.”
Mazey said the investigation will also help the board in implementing necessary policies.
“The report is to look at the whole system, to find what is wrong and if we are missing policies or procedures, we have to put them in place. We have an obligation to the public and we have close to $200m worth of assets that you see around you and that’s a big responsibility.”
Mazey also stated that the investigation was directed by the board and will be paid by the FSC.
With Vakalalabure sent on leave, the board will be overseeing the operation of the council.
