ZEG Boxing Promotion is stepping up the game with its first-ever solo pay-per-view (PPV) boxing event in partnership with My TV.

This move promises to bring boxing closer to fans across Fiji and help grow the sport nationwide.

Promoter Alfaaz Mallam opened up about the challenges that come with putting on boxing events.

“Promoters rarely make any profits from boxing promotions,” Mallam said.

“But what’s most important is giving boxers a chance to prove themselves. Without that, they’ll never get the opportunity to shine.”

The event will feature up to 10 fights, including a headline bantamweight title bout between Fiji’s own Junior Binnu Singhand India’s experienced boxer and trainer, Varun.

This international matchup is part of the plan to raise the level of competition and excitement.

Stanley Simpson, Director of My TV, shared his thoughts on the partnership.

“This is our first boxing pay-per-view, and it’s a great challenge,” Simpson said.

“Pay-per-view is the future of sports broadcasting. It’s a sustainable way to support sports and gives fans the chance to watch top-quality boxing from home.”

Simpson also mentioned My TV’s success with PPV for other sports like football and rugby sevens, saying it’s an effective way to generate income for sports development in Fiji.

The collaboration between ZEG Boxing and My TV aims to bring more attention to boxing and improve the quality of matches in Fiji.

Mallab stressed the need for international exposure, saying, “If we only fight among ourselves here, we can’t measure success or grow.

“Bringing in international fighters helps our boxers improve and gain recognition.”

With hopes to see Fijian boxers become international champions, similar to the country’s rugby stars, this PPV event marks an important step forward.

As digital platforms continue to shape how fans watch sports, ZEG Boxing and My TV are leading the way to revive boxing in Fiji and give fans exciting fights to look forward to.
