A Lautoka businessman accused of trying to export $35 million worth of cocaine to Australia will return to court in three weeks after pre-trial disclosures are completed.
Shaneil Suresh Autar appeared before Justice Sekonaia Vodokisolomone yesterday in the High Court in Lautoka.
Mr Autar’s lawyer, Mark Anthony, asked that “stop departure” orders on his client’s sureties be lifted and sought a variation in bail conditions to allow him to report to the Lautoka Police Station on the first Monday of every month.
Justice Vodokisolomone directed Mr Anthony to file a formal application and granted the State time to respond to the application.
Mr Autar was initially charged alongside Dutch national Marc Winston Tjin Konnkoen in 2019 for attempting to traffic 39 kilograms of cocaine from Fiji to Australia in October of that year.
The case was discontinued in May 2023 after the State filed a nolle prosequi. However, Mr Autar was re-charged in December 2025 and later granted bail by the High Court.
The matter has been adjourned to March 25.
