EXTRA Bula FC have come away with another disappointing result after being held to a goalless draw against South Island United on Tuesday evening at the Home of the Matildas in Melbourne, Australia.

Head coach Stephane Auvray highlighted the team’s poor execution and missed opportunities as ongoing issues that have prevented the squad from securing points in the competition.

Despite not gaining the three points, Auvray believes the team is making significant progress, particularly in their defensive approach.

“We know we are a solid side, and while we’ve conceded a few goals lately, in this game we didn’t, which is satisfying,” he said.

“Building from this, we just need to keep going and keep doing what we do.”

After a dominant first half from South Island United, Bula FC finally found their attacking rhythm late in the second half, but poor execution denied the Fijian team from stealing the match in the final quarter.

Despite the missed opportunity, Auvray believes the team is well on their way to uncovering their ruthless edge.

“Apart from winning or not winning, when I first got here, fitness was an issue, as were structure, discipline, and many other things,” he explained.

“Now, they’re playing like a team that’s been together for the past two years, so it’s just a matter of time before we become efficient.”

Bula FC will meet Tevita Waranivalu and his Tahiti United team next Sunday in their first game of circuit four of the OFC Pro League at the National Sports Stadium in the Solomon Islands.
