In a joint show of solidarity, workers from the Lautoka City Council teamed up with the Ba Town Council yesterday to assist with clean-up efforts at the Yalalevu ward.

LCC head of services Shalend Singh said the initiative highlighted the importance of collective action in maintaining clean and resilient towns.

“LCC through a collaborative initiative reached out to assist Ba Town Council aimed at restoring cleanliness, promoting public health, and strengthening inter-municipal cooperation,” he said.

“Responding to a request for assistance, the Lautoka City Council mobilised personnel to work alongside Ba Town officials, volunteers, and community members in clearing waste from public areas.

“This gesture reflects LCC’s commitment to solidarity and shared responsibility among municipalities.”

Mr Singh said environmental challenges did not stop at municipal boundaries.

“When one community needs support, we step forward—because clean, healthy towns benefit everyone,” he said.

He also acknowledged the leadership of Ba Town Council and thanked the National Fire Authority, market vendors, volunteers and community members for their support.

Meanwhile, the Nasinu Town Council also deployed a team to support recovery efforts in Ba.
