A family in Navua is mourning the death of 29-year-old language teacher Mateo Nabaleimoto, whose passing has left loved ones in shock and despair.

Medical reports indicate that Nabaleimoto died after high-voltage electricity passed through his body, believed to have been caused by an exposed wire fence along Naitonitoni Rd.

His older brother, 31-year-old Petero Kelevanua, said the tragedy came as the family was preparing to hold a small gathering to commemorate their late father.

“We were discussing having a lovo this Sunday to remember our late dad’s 50th night,” Mr Kelevanua said.

Teachers at Ratu Simione Matanitobua College described their colleague as a dedicated professional who loved his subject. His passion for teaching was evident last year when his Year 13 English students achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.
