A WOMAN and three men appeared in Lautoka Magistrate’s Court yesterday, charged in relation to the alleged kidnapping of a 20-year-old woman in Saweni last month.
Artika Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Ravinal Ravinesh Anand and Sanjay Kumar appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa.
It is alleged that on the morning of February 25, the four accused forcefully removed the victim from her home following an argument.
Ms Sharma allegedly forced the victim into her car, while the three other accused persons assaulted a relative of the victim who was trying to intervene.
The victim was injured as she jumped out of the vehicle.
Ms Sharma is charged with one count of kidnapping, one count of damaging property, and one count of act with intent to cause grievous harm.
The three other accused persons Ajay Kumar, Ravinal Ravinesh Anand, and Sanjay Kumar have each been charged with one count of kidnapping, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, and one count of criminal intimidation.
Magistrate Boseiwaqa has transferred the matter to the High Court at Lautoka. All four accused have been further remanded in custody. The case will be called again on March 9.
