LEADING HSBC SVNS 2025/26 try-scorer Vuiviwa Naduvalo is part of the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s team to the Vancouver 7s and he says this weekend will give the team a chance to showcase what they have in store.
Naduvalo returned to training last week after a 10-day break to recover from a concussion he had in the final of the Perth 7s in Australia last month.
With a performance that convinced Osea Kolinisau to give him the nod for inclusion into the team for Canada and the New York leg after, he says the team’s preparations were well on track.
“Preparations have not changed, and as Coach (Osea Kolinisau) would show our standard in the team, it has not decreased but rather it has kept increasing with every leg even as we now come to the Vancouver and New York 7s legs,” he said.
He shared these sentiments last Tuesday at Albert Park in Suva, as the window for selection became narrower with the final squad named on Friday.
With competition in their pool expected to toughen up with the likes of Australia, Argentina and France in Pool B, he emphasised how their preparations had progressed.
“It has not dropped; the level of training and preparations keep increasing physically and mentally and we thank the coach for ensuring we are well prepared for the upcoming legs.”
In meeting their pool opponents, Naduvalo shared the team had discussed how each side fared on the field.
“There have been times in which we have sat down together as a team to examine the areas in which these teams are strong or weak in.
“We are working very hard to showcase on the field what we have learnt.”
Naduvalo and a majority of the squad in the Singapore and Perth legs were named for Vancouver, while Police Blue and Devo Babas player Akuila Dranivotua is expected to make his debut this weekend.
