The Ministry of Education has confirmed all school will be closed tomorrow.
In a media advisory, the Ministry said the assessments were conducted at the district level to determine local conditions and potential risks to students, teachers and school communities.
“All Heads of Schools and teachers are advised to remain in contact with their Management Committees and District Education Offices to receive updates and guidance during this period,” the advisory stated.
The Ministry has also reminded all Heads of Schools, teachers and School Management Committees to ensure that school premises are properly secured while weather conditions remain unsettled.
Parents and guardians have been strongly encouraged to keep children at home and avoid unnecessary travel. The advisory warns against attempting to cross flooded roads, creeks or rivers, and urges the public to stay away from rivers and flood-affected areas.
The Ministry said its Disaster Risk Reduction Unit will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide timely updates as conditions evolve.
The Education Minister emphasised that the safety and welfare of children and school communities remain the Ministry’s top priority, assuring the public that further announcements will be made regarding the reopening of schools once it is safe to do so.
Parents, teachers and students are urged to continue following official weather updates and safety advisories during this critical period.
