HAIL, rain or shine, the family of Fijian Drua development team co-captain Harold Rounds would not miss watching their son play against Malolo Rugby in the curtain raiser yesterday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Camari Lala, who is Rounds aunty, left Suva at five yesterday morning, vowing not to miss the game.
She said the news of Tropical Cyclone Urmila drew skepticism but she was determined to make it to Lautoka one way or the other.
“He is my younger sister’s son. We are very much proud. All this is very new to him, he is so humble and every time he sees the banner, the flags or to see us on our feet, shouting and cheering, he shakes his head.
“We told him that this is the first time that something like this is happening in our family and he is the eldest grandchild in both my mum’s and dad’s side so we are very proud of him.
“We also want to thank the Drua development team for making the boys feel at home especially when they are away from their families,” she said.
Lala was amongst the first few fans that braved the heavy downpour yesterday morning.
“While we were planning to come down, we heard about Tropical Cyclone Urmil and some suggested that we cancel our trip but no, come the rain or sunshine, we wanted to be here for Harold,” she added.
Harold played a tight head prop for the Fijian Drua development during their curtain raiser match against Malolo.
