A flash flood alert is now in force for parts of the Western Division, covering areas from Sigatoka to Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki, as heavy rainfall continues to affect the country.
According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and showers remains slow-moving over Fiji.
At the same time, Tropical Cyclone Urmil, now at Category 2 intensity, lies over Vanuatu and is expected to move southeast, passing to the southwest of Fiji.
On its current track, the system is forecast to direct a strong and moist north-westerly wind flow over the Fiji group, bringing active rain bands from later today.
These conditions significantly increase the risk of flash flooding and possible riverine flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Tide levels are also being closely monitored.
In Lautoka, high tide is expected at 3.41pm with a level of 1.79 metres, while low tide is forecast for 10.16pm at 0.59 metres.
In Suva, high tide is expected at 4.02pm at 1.65 metres, with low tide at 10.36pm at 0.18 metres.
Authorities warn that heavy rainfall coinciding with high tide may worsen flooding impacts, especially near river mouths and coastal communities.
Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant, avoid crossing flooded roads and waterways, and follow official weather advisories as the unsettled conditions continue.
