Heavy rain and strong wind warnings are now in force for several parts of the country, as a slow-moving weather system associated with TC Urmil continues to affect Fiji.
The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a heavy rain warning for the Western Division, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
A heavy rain alert is also in effect for Macuata and northern Bua provinces.
In addition, a strong wind warning applies to land areas of the Western Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu and surrounding islands, while a strong wind alert has been issued for land areas of the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
According to the Met Service, a trough of low pressure with cloud and showers remains slow-moving over the country.
Meanwhile, Category 1 Tropical Cyclone Urmil, currently over Vanuatu, is expected to move southeast and pass southwest of Fiji.
This system is forecast to generate a strong and moist north-westerly wind flow, bringing active rain bands from later today.
For the Western Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu and nearby islands, showers are expected to increase to frequent and heavy rain with thunderstorms.
Winds are forecast to strengthen to 45 kilometres per hour, with gusts of up to 60 kilometres per hour.
