UNPREDICTABLE, high-stakes football, that’s how best to describe the OFC Professional League in its third circuit as any team, on a given day, can be beaten.
This is the case for Extra Bula FC’s next opponent, the Solomon Kings who after a solid winning run was beaten by 5th placed Vanuatu United on Wednesday.
Solomon Kings is the only team that has defeated table leaders, Auckland City so far in the league.
This was the same team that lost to Bula FC 0-1 in circuit one.
However, as the league proves, one cannot rely on past successes alone to push them through.
“I think it makes it interesting for whoever is watching the league. It’s also good for the teams because you know that you could have points, I would say, at any time if you do well.
“I also think that playing games back-to-back sometimes teams are trying to rotate their roster or not and they may get tired, which I believe was the case from my discussion with the Solomon Kings coach. They were a bit under the weather today (Wednesday),” Bula FC coach Stephen Auvray said.
While the satisfaction of a win is addictive, Auvray has not strayed from the initial aim of the team.
“I mean we know that there are going to be a lot of changes on that table but again, our focus is really for us, the players to build a solid foundation for the next two to three years.”
Bula FC takes on Solomon Kings today, 7.30pm at the Home of the Matildas main pitch in Melbourne, Australia.
