A trough of low pressure is affecting the northern and eastern parts of the Fiji group, with associated cloud and showers expected to gradually spread to the rest of the country later today, states Fiji Met.
Forecast to midnight tonight indicates occasional rain with isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls over Macuata, Cakaudrove, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, as well as the northern Lau Group.
Cloudy periods with showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected over Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra–Rakiraki, Bua Province, Lomaiviti and the rest of the Lau Group.
Isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms are likely elsewhere.
Authorities warn that localised heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Residents are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions, especially during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
