Extra Bula FC suffered its third loss in the OFC Pro League, going down nil-2 to Vanuatu United in their first match of circuit three yesterday in Melbourne, Australia.

Former Suva football player Alex Saniel was a constant threat to Bula FC’s back three who struggled to contain his speed and bold attacking play.

Saniel fueled their momentum when he scored the opening goal deep into the first half to send their vocal fans into a frenzy and solidify the foundation for their first win of the season.

Leading 1-0 into the second half, Vanuatu United looked the more confident outfit as they defended vigorously through the desperate attempts of Stephen Auvray’s men.

Their patience paid off when quick plays by Bill Kaltack and Owen Smith exposed the massive space in Bula FC’s defensive line.

Smith’s game awareness was top notch, managing to deliver timely to Kathy Iamack who had no problem in finishing.

Although the goal was initially ruled out due to an off side call, VAR proved otherwise as the Vanuatu fans celebrated from the sidelines.
