An investigation is underway following the discovery of the body of a police officer in Lami this morning.

The Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, confirmed that the officer was 24 years old and was on duty at the Lami Police Station last night.

Commissioner Tudravu said the circumstances surrounding the young officer’s death are now being investigated by police, with inquiries focusing on events leading up to the discovery.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to formally establish the cause of death.

“The matter is now under investigation,” Commissioner Tudravu said, adding that further information will be released as it becomes available.

He also conveyed the Fiji Police Force’s condolences to the officer’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
