MUSLIMS across the country are being urged to embrace unity, compassion and prayer as the holy month of Ramadan begins.

In his Ramadan message, Fiji Muslim League national president Basheer Ahmed described the month as a time of spiritual renewal and self-discipline.

“Ramadan is a time for reflection, patience and gratitude,” he said.

He reminded the faithful that the holy month was not only about fasting, but also about strengthening family and community bonds.

“It reminds us to care for one another, support those in need, and strengthen our relationship with the Almighty.”

Mr Ahmed also encouraged prayers for the nation.

“As we observe this holy month, let us also pray for our beloved Fiji for prosperity for all who call this country home.”

He said Ramadan should inspire positive action beyond the month.

“May our fasting and prayers inspire us to contribute positively to our communities and our beautiful nation.”

Muslims will fast from dawn to sunset throughout Ramadan, dedicating the month to prayer, charity and kindness.
