Former Fiji Times journalist and investigative journalist Charlie Charters has been arrested by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
His lawyer, Seforan Fatiaki, confirmed they had received information about the arrest.
“We have information that he has been arrested,” Mr Fatiaki said.
“I am trying to confirm that with FICAC, but unfortunately, nobody has returned my calls as of yet.
“So yes, we do have information that Mr Charters has been arrested and handed over to FICAC and he’s on his way to Suva.
“I’m actually on my way to Suva to the FICAC office now to get that information.”
Questions sent to FICAC remained unanswered when this edition went to press.
The Fiji Times team is at the FICAC office trying to get an update from the FICAC office.
Mr Charters was arrested at the Nadi airport earlier this afternoon.
In recent weeks, he has published confidential information about FICAC on his Facebook page.
