National airline Fiji Airways has appointed Narendra Kumar to its board of directors.
Fiji Airways Group chairman Nalin Patel said Mr Kumar brought with him an extensive experience in tourism, aviation, governance, finance, transformation and a strong commitment to supporting the airline’s growth and strategic direction.
“We are delighted to welcome Narendra to the Fiji Airways Board. His leadership and expertise will add valuable perspective as we continue strengthening our operations, expanding our network, and delivering world-class service to our customers,” Mr Patel said in a statement issued by the airline this week.
Mr Kumar presently serves as a director of House of Travel Pty Limited in Australia, as well as House of Travel Holdings Limited in NZ.
He has previously held board roles with Air Pacific Limited, Fiji Resorts Limited, Tourism NSW and Harvey Holidays.
His executive career includes CEO of Qantas Link and CFO of Qantas International, where he led major transformation and restructuring programs, delivered significant financial turnarounds, supported international network growth and oversaw major capital investments and aircraft renewal initiatives.
Mr Kumar said he was honoured to join the board and contribute to Fiji Airways’ ongoing success.
“I am proud to join the Fiji Airways board at such an exciting time for the airline and look forward to supporting its continued growth, innovation, and service excellence,” the new bopard director said.
Mr Kumar’s appointment came into effect on February 13.
The airline also acknowledged board director Daksesh Patel for his contribution and dedicated service to the airline.
Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Paul Scurrah commended Mr Patel’s outstanding leadership, steady guidance and unwavering support during a pivotal period for the airline.
“His contribution has helped shape our progress and strengthen our future, and we are deeply grateful for the legacy Daksesh leaves behind,” Mr Scurrah said.
