DISRUPTING the flow of play of their opponents has been an area of focus for the Extra Bula FC as they place the finishing touches ahead of their round 3 OFC Pro League match against Vanuatu United tomorrow.
According to head coach Stéphane Auvray, it’s something the team has worked on since returning from their round two outing in Papua New Guinea and after players took time to meet their families after their prolonged absence.
“Focused on the last zone of the field which is disrupting the opponent and finishing, so hopefully we’ll be able to be better in that zone in the next circuit,” Auvray expressed in a recent video release.
“We are able now to create chances, have good possession, however we have to finish the chances so that’s really what we focused on.”
Bula FC ventures into this round in Melbourne, Australia with the hopes of cementing a definite win after varying results in the earlier rounds.
The team has ventured into the region’s first professional football tournament, facing the likes of formidable teams in the region such as Tahiti United, PNG Hekari FC, and Auckland FC.
Bula FC meets their Ni-Van opponents with a record of one win and two losses already noted in the competition.
And the reunion after their two-all draw in round one at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand last month means both teams will pull out all the stops to win over the other in their clash tomorrow.
“I know it’s a team that never gives up, they have a good coach who knows the game, they have good players as well, they were able to go back home and work and prepare for this game,” Auvray acknowledged of the team and their head coach Lars Hopp.
Meanwhile, Bula FC meets Vanuatu United at 2pm tomorrow.
