There is a strong possibility that the case of TikToker Lui Bale Vuibureta, accused of insulting the modesty of Lynda Tabuya on social media, could be remitted to the lower court.
Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili made the remark yesterday when Mr Vuibureta appeared in the Suva Magistrate’s Court.
In one charge, he is alleged to have posted a live TikTok video on September 1 in Nadi, using vulgar language with the intent to harm Ms Tabuya. The matter is currently before the High Court to determine whether it falls within its jurisdiction.
The prosecution argued that the case should be heard in the lower court and requested time to decide whether to proceed further with the charge.
In a separate matter, Mr Vuibereta allegedly failed to surrender his passport, continued using social media, and did not delete his TikTok account between October 30, 2025, and January 31, 2026.
He was remanded in custody, with the case adjourned to March 17.
