A citizen of the Federated States of Micronesia requires medical attention after missing her period and developing a cyst on her right ovary, her lawyer has told the Suva Magistrate’s Court.
And senior magistrate Sufia Hamza has directed that a medical report be produced before any referral for Ginna Choi to be escorted for treatment or assessment.
Ms Choi is one of seven people arrested in September of last year following raids in Flagstaff and along Rewa St in Suva.
She faces charges alongside Josua Ravula, Yu Yang Fang, Minghui Dai, Zhou Lan, Logamaisino Baules (also known as Lagomarcion Ngirchobekelou), and Peniasi Ganilau Delai, after the prosecution filed amended consolidated charges yesterday.
Mr Ravula is accused of possessing 42.295 grams of methamphetamine while Ms Choi, Mr Baules and Mr Delai are accused of possessing 0.345 grams each.
Ms Choi is also alleged to have had $977.60, 200 Philippine pesos, and $US4, suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Mr Baules, son of Palau Senate president Hokkons Baules, is further accused of overstaying his visitor’s permit by seven days.
Chinese nationals Yu Yang Fang, Minghui Dai, Zhou Lan are charged with possessing 39.509 grams of methamphetamine.
Mr Zhou is also accused of holding $7180, $US60, $HK1520, and 600 Chinese yuan, suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Mr Yu faces charges of dealing methamphetamine with others and possessing $906.25, also suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Their lawyer Shirley Tivao said she would file for a voir dire to challenge the admissibility of the drugs and the lawfulness of the search and seizure.
All seven remain in custody, with the matter adjourned to February 25.
