EXTRA Bula FC head coach Stéphane Auvray is confident in the progress his team has made as they prepare for the third round of the OFC Pro League in Melbourne.
Following a second round that ended with a draw and a loss, many have questioned whether the team has made the necessary adjustments to meet the demands of the league.
However, based on their performances in the first two rounds and their recent preparations, Auvray believes the team is moving in a positive direction and will be at their best for the upcoming matches in Melbourne this weekend.
“I will not say tactical adjustment, but I would say a progression, we’ve been working by cycles,” he said.
“So, there was a long cycle based on fitness and the structure and the defence which I believe showed because we were very disciplined in our defence and played good structure.”
He added that the team has also made significant strides in their play in the opposition’s half.
“The second thing is our possession in the attacking half I think that even though we were unfortunate not to get the three points against Tahiti or Melbourne it showed that we have good control of the game,” said Auvray.
That said, Auvray acknowledges there is still work to be done in the final third, particularly in disrupting the opposition and finishing their attacking plays.
With four games scheduled in the third circuit, recovery will be a key focus, as teams will have just two days to recover between matches. The full squad is expected to take to the field over the weekend.
Bula FC will commence the third circuit against Vanuatu United FC at 2.00 pm this Sunday.
