The team working on the Narcotics Bill is racing against time, with the draft law expected to be submitted to Cabinet and Parliament by April.
Consultant Biu Matavou told members of the public present at a public consultation at the Civic Centre in Labasa that they were working within a strict deadline.
Mr Matavou said the team was on its last round of consultations before drafting began.
“The intention is to develop a law that looks at drugs more ultimately.”
He said their goal was to create a strong and modern law that would guide Fiji for many years.
