A strong anti-drug stance is being reinforced at Queen Victoria School, with newly badged 2026 head boy Isikeli Bari calling for heightened awareness and vigilance among students.
Bari, who is from Moala, Nadi, said he has observed a worrying trend of young people becoming involved in drugs and believed his leadership role provided an opportunity to promote positive change within the school community.
“Young people have to think wisely before doing drugs to make sure you do not regret your choices later in life,” he said.
He said the student leadership team would work closely with teachers to guide students and encourage them to make responsible decisions.
“I hope to continue the greatness of QVS.
“To ensure that we do things we are supposed to do and refrain from doing anything against the school rules.”
Bari urged students to look out for one another and remain focused on their academic goals, stressing that avoiding harmful habits was critical to securing a better future.
With no reported cases of drug use at the school, he said maintaining discipline and strengthening awareness efforts would remain a priority.
He revealed that school leaders had already introduced nightly dormitory checks to ensure students were in bed at lights-out, describing the measure as a proactive step to prevent misconduct.
Bari said his vision was to foster a safe and disciplined environment at QVS, where every student was given the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.
