PM hails Ailava Samuels’ historic Miss Pacific Islands crown

The Prime Minister has congratulated Ms Ailava Samuels on her historic crowning as Miss Pacific Islands 2026, describing the achievement as a moment of immense national pride for Fiji.

In a statement, Sitiveni Rabuka said Ms Samuels’ victory reflected not only grace and humility, but resilience, courage and an unwavering commitment to representing Fiji with dignity on the regional stage.

“Your victory is a moment of immense national pride. It reflects not only your grace and humility, but also your resilience, courage, and unwavering commitment to representing Fiji with dignity on the regional stage,” the Prime Minister said.

He praised Ms Samuels for her composure under pressure, noting that her journey demonstrated strength of character in the face of intense scrutiny and challenges.

“In the face of intense scrutiny and challenges, you demonstrated remarkable composure and strength of character. Your journey reminds us all that true leadership is grounded in perseverance, humility, and belief in one’s purpose,” he said.

The Prime Minister said Ms Samuels carried the hopes of the nation with honour and showcased the true spirit of Fiji to the wider Pacific.

He said the achievement belonged not only to Ms Samuels, but to young Fijians across the country.

“This achievement belongs not only to you, but to every young Fijian who dares to dream, to rise above adversity, and to serve with heart. You have inspired our nation and uplifted our collective spirit,” the Prime Minister said.

“As you begin your reign, may you continue to use your voice to champion the values of unity, empowerment, and Pacific solidarity. Fiji stands proudly beside you.”
