THE Tribal Risk Nasinu Grassroots Volleyball competition is heating up in round three at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, with teams vying for a prize of $5000 for the men’s category and $2000 for the women’s category.
What was once considered a mere “community fun” has transformed into a high-stakes, professional-grade competition, with club president Matai Daulako noting the shift in intensity.
“A $5000 prize for a men’s grassroots win is a massive motivator,” said Daulako.
“It’s not just about the money; it’s about the resources that funding brings back to the local clubs for better gear and training.”
He adds teams like Vesida One, Team Fire, Drifters, Highway, and Easternville are showing determination and momentum as they challenge the dominant forces in the competition.
The Nasinu core teams are on a “revenge tour” after a recent loss in the Vulaca Championship, looking to assert their dominance on their home turf at the Vanua Challenge.
“The venues provided by the Fiji Sports Council, such as the HFC Bank Stadium and the FMF Gymnasium, offer a world-class playing experience, pushing players to elevate their game and putting the sport in the spotlight.”
The competition is set to continue until March, culminating in the final round nine.
