Fiji Airways will continue operating two of its flagship Airbus A350-900 aircraft following their acquisition by a new aircraft owner, under a deal announced this week.
According to an official press release issued on February 10, Riyadh-based lessor AviLease has completed the purchase of two Airbus A350-900 aircraft from GOAL Aircraft Leasing.
The aircraft are currently on long-term lease to Fiji Airways and will remain in the airline’s fleet without disruption.
The widebody jets, identified by manufacturer serial numbers MSN 260 and MSN 251, were delivered into AviLease’s portfolio in late December 2025, with existing lease arrangements preserved to ensure continuity for Fiji Airways’ long-haul operations.
Fiji Airways took delivery of the two A350-900s in August 2023 and deploys them on key trans-Pacific routes, including services to Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The airline relies on the aircraft as a central part of its fleet modernisation programme, benefiting from the type’s improved fuel efficiency and long-range capability.
GOAL managing director Christian Schloemann said the transaction reflected the success of the company’s investment strategy.
“This transaction demonstrates the successful execution of the opportunistic investment strategy pursued by KGAL’s equity investors,” Mr Schloemann said.
GOAL said the sale would generate liquidity for its investors, with proceeds to be reinvested into new aircraft opportunities.
AviLease, which is wholly owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, said the acquisition supports its ambition to build a world-class leasing portfolio focused on modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. The Airbus A350-900 is known for its composite structure and lower fuel burn compared with older widebody types.
For Fiji Airways passengers, the ownership change is expected to be seamless, with no impact on schedules, routes or onboard service as the airline continues to operate the aircraft under long-term lease arrangements.
