MISS Fiji Ailava Samuels has highlighted the importance of leadership and digital literacy as she reflected on her pageant journey.

The eldest in her family, Ms Samuels said she learned leadership at home by serving her siblings and putting their needs before her own. Her pageant experience has further shaped her values of responsibility, accountability and empathy.

“Leadership is not about the position, but the impact you can make,” she said.

“It’s about serving with passion and owning the responsibilities that come with the role.”

Ms Samuels also stressed the urgent need for digital literacy and social media etiquette in Fiji’s schools.

“We’re taught how to use technology, but not how to behave online.

“Freedom of speech comes with responsibility. The key is using platforms for positive impact rather than harm.”

She called on schools to teach students to navigate online spaces safely and responsibly.
