THE Australian Fiji Rugby Union Under-20 side is set to make a significant appearance this week as the curtain-raiser for Round One of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash between the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika.

This opportunity marks a major stage for the team, showcasing their talent and potential.

The AFRU U20 squad is currently in Fiji on a crucial development tour aimed at strengthening Fiji Rugby’s Under-20 pathway in preparation for international competition.

Upon their arrival in Nadi last Friday, they were warmly welcomed by Saunaka Village, where they spent their initial two nights and participated in a church service, emphasising the cultural and community aspects of their visit.

Their training sessions began recently, with a friendly match against the Fiji Rugby Union Under-20 side at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

The climax of their tour will be this Saturday when they face a Drua Development side in Lautoka as a prelude to the Moana Pasifika versus Fijian Drua Super Rugby Pacific match.

The support of Electro Fire Technologies has made this tour possible, with AFRU expressing gratitude to the Fiji Rugby Union, Saunaka Village, the Fijian Drua, and the broader community for their generosity and hospitality.

The AFRU U20 squad will face the Drua Development team at 12:30 pm, followed by the highly anticipated showdown between Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika at 3:35 pm this Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
