A major section of Queens Road has been closed following a significant road fissure near Semo Village, cutting off traffic in both directions.
The damage occurred just past Semo Village just before the Semo Village road humps.
Eye-witnesses confirmed that the entire section of roadway has caved in, making it impossible for vehicles to cross from either side.
A road fissure is a deep crack or split in the road surface, often caused by prolonged heavy rainfall, flooding or ground movement that weakens the soil beneath the pavement.
When the supporting ground erodes or becomes saturated, the road can collapse entirely.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and delay travel where possible, as no through access is currently available along this stretch of Queen’s Road.
