EXTRA Bula FC head coach Stephane Auvray did not mince his words on Sunday after their 0-1 defeat by Tahiti United in their round two OFC Pro League clash in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Auvray commended his team for the effort shown there, however he lamented the lack of finishing their progress into the goal mouth successfully.

“I’m more frustrated at us not scoring goals than anything else because otherwise we’re pretty solid and we are creating chances,” Auvray said.

“We’d prefer to have a different problem, because this one I cannot fix; scoring goals.”

The team’s result on Sunday is a different one to their win over South Melbourne FC last Wednesday.

Both teams drew one-all.

Bula FC also won 1-0 over the Solomon Kings FC in their first match of round two on February 1.

Meanwhile, Auvray said the team was given what they needed to assist them on the field, however, once they were locked in play and when they were near the goal, there was nothing more coaches could do.

“We could give the players a structure, we could help them to defend better, attack better, but once they get in the box facing the goalkeeper, there’s nothing we (coaches) can do,” he emphasised.

As the team ended round two following their two matches in PNG and return home to prepare for round three in Australia, he remains optimistic yet aware of what they need to do.

“I know we’ll come back so we’re just going to keep pushing because we have everything except the goals.”

Bula FC will meet Vanuatu United FC on Sunday, February 22, PNG Hekari on Wednesday, February 25, and the Solomon Kings on Saturday, February 28.
