THE man accused of insulting the modesty of Information Minister Lynda Tabuya on social media appeared at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday with his face visibly bruised and swollen.
Lui Bale Vuibereta was in court before Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili, who granted an application by his lawyer to be escorted to the Totogo Police Station to lodge a report regarding his injuries.
Mr Vuibereta is alleged to have posted a live TikTok video on September 1 in Nadi, during which he used vulgar language with the intent to cause harm to Ms Tabuya.
The prosecution and defence lawyers agreed that the matter be transferred to the High Court on the basis that the Magistrate’s Court lacked jurisdiction.
He is expected to appear in the High Court on February 13.
