Energy Fiji Limited has successfully concluded negotiations on its 2025 Log of Claims with its in-house union, the Fiji Electricity Workers Association (FEWA), while discussions continue with the Construction Energy and Timber Workers Union of Fiji (CETWUF).

In a statement, Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) confirmed that negotiations with FEWA — which represents employees across tradesperson, staff and senior staff categories — have concluded with agreement on improved employment benefits, effective from January 1, 2026.

The agreement follows a series of negotiations held throughout 2025, with both parties reaching agreement in principle in December.

In a move reflecting what EFL described as mutual trust and good-faith bargaining, the company implemented the agreed salary increases and benefits during the second pay cycle of 2026, backdated to January 1, pending formal documentation.

Under the 2025 Log of Claims, FEWA members will receive a five per cent increase in base salary and allowances, additional employer contributions to the Fiji National Provident Fund based on years of service, and provisions allowing unused sick leave from the previous two years to be carried forward.

The agreement also introduces 24-hour personal accident insurance coverage for tradespersons, including live-line linespersons, along with other negotiated benefits.

EFL said the additional employer FNPF contribution provides a significant long-term benefit, strengthening employees’ retirement savings and financial security.

The terms of the agreement were formally recorded in a Memorandum of Agreement signed on January 30, 2026, giving written effect to the understanding reached late last year. Eligible employees have already begun receiving the new entitlements in the first two pay cycles of 2026.

Chief executive officer Fatiaki Gibson said the outcome reflected a strong and respectful working relationship between EFL and FEWA, built on transparency, trust and adherence to established collective bargaining processes.

Negotiations with CETWUF, which represents another group of its workers, are still ongoing.
