Vesida dazzles in first match

VESIDA One volleyball team, asserted their dominance over the Easternville team by defeating them in their first match of the Tribal Risk Nasinu Grassroots Volleyball tournament.

The final set ended with a score of 25-20, showcasing Vesida’s superior performance throughout the game.

In line with their commitment to community engagement, Nasinu Volleyball Association, in collaboration with the Fiji Sports Council, has launch a month-long Grassroots Development Program.

This program aims to provide local clubs with a platform to experience top-tier facilities and engage in high-intensity gameplay.

Watisoni Bukalidi, the captain of the Vesida team, expressed the team’s preparedness and determination to emerge victorious in the competition.

Despite facing a strong opposition, the team remained resilient and pushed through to secure their win.

Bukalidi also emphasised the value of sports in promoting positive activities among the youth amidst societal challenges.

“We had been preparing well for this competition, the boys know what is at stake, we aiming to win this competition,” said Bukalidi.

“It was a good match our opponents gave us a good game, they showed their strength in the third set, but we pushed till the end to win the match.

“We are thankful to Nasinu Volleyball Association for the opportunity to play in this Grassroots competition, we can see a lot of talent here with us.”

He highlighted the importance of initiatives like the Grassroots Development Program in nurturing talent and redirecting the focus of young individuals.
