TO defend a trophy will be a challenging task, as Rewa FC head coach Priyant Manu emphasised in preparation for their upcoming clash against Labasa FC in the first-leg of the 2026 Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion today.

Despite facing the pressure of maintaining their title, Manu expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the challenge that lies ahead.

He adds the team has dedicated the past four weeks to rigorous training, showing positive signs despite the loss of around 12 players through the transfer windows, some of whom are now playing for Bula FC.

However, new players have been brought in to strengthen the team, and Manu is hopeful that they will deliver a strong performance in the upcoming CVC match.

The pressure is mounting as the Rewa fans eagerly anticipate a victory, knowing the importance of defending their CVC title.

“The pressure is slowly coming up, as we know the Rewa fans, want for then a win, we have been working hard the boys know we have to defend the CVC title,” said Manu.

“To win a trophy is easy but to defend its hard, so we know the pressure and surely come game day, we should come out with a positive result.”

Manu recognised the difficulty in maintaining a championship title and emphasised the team’s determination to rise to the occasion and secure a positive outcome on game day.

Labasa FC has also faced challenges, having lost many players, but they have recruited experienced new players in response.

The fierce rivalry between Rewa and Labasa ensures that the upcoming match will be intense and competitive, with both teams eager for success.

Manu called upon the Rewa fans to come out in large numbers and show their support for the team as they strive for their first win of the season.

The match will kick-off at 3pm today at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
