TRAVELLING all the way from the highlands of Namosi to Vanua Levu, the Bula Brothers is competing at the 17th Fiji Bitter Savusavu 7s to not make the numbers but stamp their mark on the rugby field.

For the young side, the trip to Savusavu is more than just a rugby outing — it is a statement of intent as they test themselves against some of the country’s established sevens outfits.

Team manager Ratu Pio Camaisala acknowledged the sacrifices made behind the scenes, thanking their sponsors from Australia and the families of each player for their continued support.

“This trip would not have been possible without our sponsors overseas and the families who have supported the boys from day one,” Camaisala said.

He said the tournament presents a valuable learning opportunity for a team still finding its feet on the national sevens scene.

Ratu Pio added that he had spoken to his players ahead of the tournament, urging them to play without fear.

“I told the boys not to be frightened to play against big teams like the Devo Young Babas,” he said.

“Even though we are just starting, this is where we set our benchmark.”

Camaisala said regardless of results, the experience gained in Savusavu would play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Bula Brothers as they continue their rugby journey.
