CART Max Fiji Pte Ltd, trading as Cart Max Pet Shop, held its inaugural vaccine and pet health outreach at Shirley Park in Lautoka on Saturday.

The Namaka-based clinic, which opened in December, expanded its services to the Sugar City to assist pet owners facing logistical challenges.

Veterinarian Dr Dakshil Kumar said the initiative was born out of a need to reach pet parents in the Nadi-Lautoka corridor.

”We initially opened our clinic in the first week of December and whilst operating, we came up with the idea that we need to expand our services especially to those here in the Lautoka-Nadi corridor because many pet parents are not able to bring their pets to Nadi and transportation is an issue,” he said.

”The turnout has been quite great, more like we are running against time, but hopefully we get to see everyone within the time frame.”

Mr Kumar said the outreach featured two dedicated stations providing a range of veterinary and retail services.

”We have two stations here, one is completely on the pet shop, you have your pet collars, food, your preventatives for fleas and ticks and the other one is the outreach that my vet team is carrying out.

”We are doing free consultations and also having a vaccination drive.”

While the clinic currently offers de-sexing services at its Nadi base, Dr Kumar confirmed plans to bring these procedures to the community through future mobile events.

”We do de-sexing and we also have plans in the future to have a de-sexing outreach.”
