THE UB40 concert held in Nadi on Friday was recorded as an incident free event with no arrests or drug seizures made.
Divisional Police Commander West, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa credited the success of the operation to strict enforcement and community cooperation.
“It was an incident-free concert, no confiscations or drugs found, because we were very strict,” he said.
SSP Vaisewa confirmed that the police presence included specialised units to monitor the venue entry points.
“We had our canine and our team at the gate.”
More than 70 officers were deployed to manage the event, covering both the concert arena and surrounding entertainment districts.
“We had about more than 70 officers on the ground and outside the ground, covering the drinking spots for the nightclubs.”
SSP Vaisewa commended the behaviour of the public during the international act’s performance.
“We continue to thank the community, I think, they start to understand their responsibility.”
