LAUTOKA Primary School Athletics president Adriu Qio has been appointed as the new Fiji Primary School Athletics Association president.
The appointment was confirmed by former president Patrick Bower, who said the leadership role has now been handed over to Lautoka.
“This year we have handed over to Lautoka who will take over,” Bower said.
Qio steps into the role as Fiji Primary School Athletics continues to build on the success of last year’s national championships, which saw strong performances across all divisions.
Suva One are the defending champions in the boys’ division after an impressive showing in 2025, collecting 10 gold, 14 silver, and six bronze medals.
In the girls’ division, Nadi remain the team to beat after finishing on top with 14 gold, four silver, and three bronze medals.
Nadi also lead the overall combined standings and will defend their title this year after being crowned champions with a total of 19 gold, 13 silver, and five bronze medals. Suva One finished second with 16 gold, 26 silver, and eight bronze medals, while Tailevu secured third place with 11 gold, six silver, and nine bronze medals.
With new leadership in place, expectations are high as preparations begin for the upcoming season.
