Consistency is key if the Fiji Airways Fijiana Sevens team are to elevate their performances this week in Singapore.

Head coach Richard Walker has emphasised that the team’s inconsistent efforts during the first leg will be a primary focus as they approach the second leg of the HSBC SVNS series in Singapore.

“One of our goals is that we start and we end the game. We are good around those middle periods, and in some games, we start the game well as well, but we just want to ensure we have consistency through starting well, and that’s something the girls have been working well on,” Walker explained.

With the quality of opposition in the new competition format, Walker added that finishing strongly is non-negotiable moving forward.

“Also finishing the game, we want to finish the game really well. We have some tough opponents in Australia, USA and Japan and, as we know, they are pretty consistent all the way through and we want to be as well,” he said.

The side will kick off their Singapore campaign against Australia at 3.26 pm on Saturday.

They take on the USA at 6.30pm followed by Japan at 9.56pm.
