The Ministry of Policing and Communications has invited public submissions and participation in nationwide consultations on a proposed Counter Narcotics Bill, aimed at establishing and empowering a Counter Narcotics Bureau.
In a statement, the Ministry said it will be undertaking comprehensive consultations across the country to gather views, concerns and recommendations from individuals, communities and institutions on the proposed legislation and the powers of the bureau.
Members of the public, civil society organisations, private institutions and other stakeholders are encouraged to make written submissions, sharing their insights on the proposal and its potential impact.
Written submissions can be emailed to cnbill@policing.gov.fj, with online submissions closing at 11.59pm on Monday, February 23, 2026.
In addition to written feedback, the consultation team will conduct in-person public consultation meetings throughout Fiji from February 9 to February 23, 2026.
Interested individuals and organisations are invited to attend consultation sessions at designated venues across various divisions during this period.
The Ministry said the consultation process is intended to ensure the proposed law reflects public interest, strengthens Fiji’s response to illicit drugs, and promotes transparency and accountability.
