The Fiji Meteorological Service says Tropical Depression TD07F remains well to the far west of Fiji, but its associated rainbands and strong winds are continuing to affect parts of the country.

As of 6am today, TD07F was located about 580 kilometres west-southwest of Kadavu and 800 kilometres west of Ono-i-Lau.

The system is moving southwards at a fast speed of around 38 kilometres per hour.

The Weather Office said the system is not expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone, as it is moving into an unfavourable environment for further development.

Despite the centre remaining far from Fiji, rainbands and strong northwesterly winds linked to TD07F continue to impact the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, western Viti Levu, western Vanua Levu and nearby areas.

A significant wind gust of 70 kilometres per hour was recorded in Nadi last night, highlighting the strength of the associated weather conditions.

The Fiji Meteorological Service said it is continuing to closely monitor Tropical Depression TD07F and will issue further updates as necessary, urging the public to remain alert and take precautions, especially in areas experiencing strong winds and heavy rain.
