THE Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji met with the U.S Coast Guard under the International Port Security (IPS) Program last week.
The authority said the meeting focused on sharing best practices in maritime and port security.
Their discussions focused on governance, threat response, security assessments, drills and emerging issues like cybersecurity.
The authority welcomed the engagement and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening maritime security in line with international standards.
MSAF said the meeting came in the wake of the upcoming audit scheduled for February 2026 and the two confirmed trainings in mid-2026.
A gift was presented to the authority’s acting chief executive officer, Iliesa Batisaresare from the U.S Coast Guard team as a token of appreciation for their ongoing collaboration.
